The Painted Forest and Edgewood College Art Studio and Study Center is a learning facility for educational programs and cultural events sponsored by Edgewood College. The Art Studio and Study Center serves as a site to teach people about folk art and historic preservation. Each year community members of Valton, WI and the surrounding communities are invited to a "Friends of the Painted Forest" event, which is held at the Art Studio and Study Center.

The Painted Forest and Art Studio and Study Center work in partnership with the Kohler Foundation, Inc., Historical Society of Upper Baraboo Valley, Modern Woodmen of America, residents of Valton, WI and surrounding communities. Typical programs offered are workshops, lectures, exhibits, performances, seminars, retreats, and artist residencies. All workshops are educational in content and predominately art-related. Most programs are one-day events. Edgewood College oversees all programs.
